JAMES TUCK

HEAD P.G.A. ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL

AT

TRACY PARK

GOLF CLUB

Hi and welcome to my website. My name is James Tuck and I am the Head PGA Advanced Professional at Tracy Park Golf Club.  I am located 6 miles from the centre of Bath and 12 miles from the centre of Bristol in the village of Wick, South Gloucestershire.

Originally I was employed as the teaching professional at Tracy Park but over the years my role has changed and I now run the entire golf operation at the facility.  As I am based at a resort course with 43 bedrooms, 36 holes of golf and a private membership, my job can be very varied and exciting.  One day I may be out on the range coaching a beginners clinic in the morning , then in the afternoon dealing with membership/handicap issues and ordering new stock for the shop.  The next day I could then be running a large corporate golf event with over 100 clients, which may include giving a lesson clinic on the range, organising the scoring for the group, starting them on the first tee and helping with the after dinner presentation.  This variety really does make my job very enjoyable.

Teaching golf still gives me the greatest pleasure and I get a real buzz seeing golfers improve.  That is why I concentrate most of my Continual Professional Development (CPD) doing courses based on gaining knowledge in this area.  This in has led to the PGA awarding me with the status of Advanced Professional in 2014 for the work I have achieved over the years in the golf industry, mainly based on my coaching techniques and achievements.

My CPD Training has given me the knowledge in many aspects of the game, from studying many different swing models, body bio-mechanics, sports nutrition, sports psychology and different short game methods, I can offer a complete lesson package to any individual. This holistic approach to teaching allows me to be open minded with my coaching and not have a 'Fixed Model' approach, often used by coaches in the past. I believe there is no fixed method when it comes to hitting golf shots, but there is an ideal swing for each individual and my training has made it easy for me to get the best out of my clients.

This understanding and knowledge has also given me the chance to teach at county level both in Norfolk and currently in Gloucestershire where I am fortunate to teach two Gloucestershire County Golf Partnership squads.
